If you’ve been thinking about getting help in your business, you’ve probably heard the terms “VA” and “OBM.”

But what’s the difference between a Virtual Assistant and an Online Business Manager? And more importantly, how do you know which one you need.

What a VA Does (That’s Me)

A Virtual Assistant supports you by doing the work, not managing it. We take tasks off your plate and help your business run smoothly. Think of them as your sidekick.

Typical VA tasks might include:

  • Managing your inbox and replying to client emails

  • Formatting and scheduling blog posts or newsletters

  • Organizing files and content

  • Creating simple graphics in Canva

  • Updating your calendar or client list

If your business is still mostly you, and you’re doing way too much alone, you likely need a VA.

What an OBM Does

An Online Business Manager supports you by managing the work, not necessarily doing it. They’re focused on systems, team management, and overseeing operations. You could think of them like a business partner.

Typical OBM tasks might include:

  • Building project plans and tracking progress

  • Managing a team (like a VA, designer, copywriter, etc.)

  • Streamlining systems and processes

  • Reviewing performance metrics and KPIs

  • Helping you scale or launch new offers

If you have a team or multiple contractors, and you’re too busy to manage them all, you might need an OBM.

So, Which One Do You Need?

Here’s a quick way to tell:

If you’re…

  • Still handling most of the work yourself: You probably need a VA

  • Feeling buried in inbox, content, admin: You probably need a VA

  • Wanting help doing the tasks: You probably need a VA

  • Managing a team or launching at scale: You probably need an OBM

  • Ready to delegate strategy and management: You probably need an OBM

Still not sure?
That’s okay! The best next step is a conversation to figure it out together.

If you’re doing great work, but way too much of it alone, I’d love to help.

I’m a Virtual Assistant for small business owners and creators who want things to feel easier and be more supported.
